Doug Schmidt, Board Member
                                
& Director

Doug Schmidt is a Senior Landman for Concho Resources Inc., a Midland-based independent oil and natural gas company engaged in the acquisition, development and exploration of oil and natural gas properties, where he works as a landman primarily focused in the company's acquisition and divestiture activities. Doug is a native Midlander. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of Texas at Austin in 2005 and a Master of Business Administration in Management from the McCombs School of Business, University of Texas at Austin in 2010. 

Doug joined the YPE leadership Team in 2010. He is an active member of the Permian Basin Landmen's Association, 2010 United Way of Midland Allocation Panel representative, and served as Leadership Director for the Young Professionals of Midland in 2008-09. 

 
Nick McClure, Board Member   
                              & 
Education Chair

Nick McClure is the Business Development Officer at McClure Oil Company, an independent Oil and Gas company focusing on exploration and production across the Permian Basin. 

 

Nick is a native of Midland, and graduated with a degree in finance from Texas A&M. After graduation, he sought a commission in the U.S. Army. As a Captain in the Third Infantry Division, Nick lead 175 men in combat operations in Iraq’s Diyala River Valley conducting joint patrols and raids against insurgent forces. Nick is a graduate of U.S. Army Ranger School and received many awards to include the Bronze Star.  

 
 
Rebecca Eckhoff, Board Member   
                                      & Treasurer
 
 
Rebecca is a Certified Public Accountant currently working in the Corporate Accounting department of Concho Resources, Inc. Prior to joining Concho, Rebecca was a Senior Associate in the Midland office of Weaver and Tidwell, LLP, primarily engaged in oil and gas audits of private equity backed operations. 

Rebecca grew up primarily in Arkansas, and moved to Texas for college, where she earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Northwood University. She is currently finishing up further study to complete her Executive Masters of Business Administration from Texas Tech University.

Rebecca joined the YPE leadership team in 2011, and is currently a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Council of Petroleum Accountants Societies, and the Petroleum Accountants Society of the Permian Basin. She also enjoys volunteering for various civic and non-profit organizations in her free time. 
 
 

 

Justin Clark, Board Member   
                            & Communications Chair
 

Justin is a corporate and tax attorney at Davis, Gerald & Cremer in Midland. His firm provides comprehensive legal services in significant cases and transactions for Fortune 500 companies, large independent and privately-owned oil and gas companies and other businesses in the energy industry. Justin’s areas of practice include structuring oil and gas transactions, tax planning and controversy work, mergers and acquisitions, financing, and corporate governance.

After obtaining his Masters in Taxation from New York University in 2008, Justin practiced business and tax law for nearly three years in Chicago with the firm of Golan & Christie. Justin joined Davis, Gerald & Cremer in January of 2011 and became a member of the YPE Leadership Team later in the year. Although Justin is a native of Kansas City, his family originally hails from West Texas.      

 

 
Patrick Godwin, Board Member   
                                      & Philanthropy Chair


Patrick is a landman with Concho Resources Inc., a Midland-based independent oil and natural gas company engaged in the acquisition, development and exploration of oil and natural gas properties, where he is currently assigned to the Texas Asset team working Concho operated properties in Midland, Upton and Andrews County.  Patrick interned with Concho in the summer of 2009 and has been on full-time since June, 2010.  Patrick grew up in Fort Worth, Texas, and graduated from Texas Tech University in May, 2010 with a degree in Energy Commerce.
Patrick joined the YPE leadership in December, 2011.  He is an active member of the Permian Basin Landmen’s Assoiciation, American Association of Professional Landmen, Centers for Children and Families, Meals on Wheels and a United Way of Midland Allocation Panel representative.
 
Spencer Robnett, Board Member   
                              & Fundraising  Chair
 
Spencer is a Crude Oil Marketing Representative for Plains All American Pipeline, a Houston based MLP engaged in the transportation, storage, terminalling and marketing of crude oil, refined products and liquefied petroleum gas.  In his current capacity he is responsible for negotiating crude oil purchase agreements (fleet and pipeline), bulk crude oil volume scheduling and project development.  A native Midlander, Spencer has been employed with Plains since June, 2010.  Prior to his employment with Plains, Spencer worked for Congressman Kevin Brady in Washington, D.C.  He received his undergraduate degree in economics from Texas A&M University in December 2009. 

 

Spencer attended the inaugural YPE conference in Las Vegas, NV and joined the YPE leadership team in 2011.  He is active in the PBPA and volunteers his time with Midland Young Life, Midland Association for Retarded Citizens and also coaches the Mid Cities Giants little league baseball team.  Spencer is in charge of sponsorships and fundraising for YPE Midland, please contact him if interested in supporting the local chapter.

 

 
 
Chris Gardiner, Board Member   
                            & Assistant Director
 
 
Chris is a petroleum engineer for ConocoPhillips (“COP”) based out of Midland, TX. Currently, he works as a reservoir engineer implementing COP’s operated program in the Bakken. Chris has experience with reservoir characterization and program implementation in the Anadarko Granite Wash.

 

Chris grew up in Washington D.C before attending Marietta College. He graduated from Marietta with a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering in 2009. Chris joined the YPE Board in 2010. He is also a member of SPE and on the New Hire Network Board at COP.

 

 
 
Turner Phipps,  Board Member   
                                  & Education  Chair


Turner Phipps is an analyst with Western National Bank where he provides underwriting and financial analysis for small to mid size independent E&P companies, Oilfield Service companies, and real estate investments. Turner joined WNB in January 2011 after completing his MBA at Angelo State University. Prior to attending graduate school, Turner played collegiate basketball at Baylor University and Angelo State University. Turner has been a board member of the Midland Chapter since 2011, and is currently involved with organizing YPE Midland’s social events.
