Joanna Shea, President

Joanna is a Land Negotiator with Enerplus Corporation, responsible for SE Alberta and SW Saskatchewan. She completed her BCOM at St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia in 2003. Prior to joining Enerplus in August, 2010, Joanna worked for BP Canada for 5 years. In her time there she negotiated terms and conditions under Farmout, JOA, Pooling, Royalty and Blended Royalty Agreements in West Central Alberta and NEBC. In addition to her Canadian experience as a Negotiator, Joanna had the opportunity to negotiate in Texas, Wyoming and Oklahoma, having been transferred to Houston for an expatriate role.  

In addition to YPE, Joanna is a Big Sister for Big Brother Big Sister of Calgary, supports Between Friends Club through volunteer nights and is a member of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Landmen (CAPL). For fun, she enjoys 1/2 marathons, skiing, biking, hiking and golfing... essentially anything outdoors followed up with good food, family and friends.
 


 

Sean A. Delsnider, Board Member

 Sean is currently in the Finance Advice group at Shell Energy North America; a wholly-owned Natural Gas, Power, and Environmental Products Trading subsidiary of Royal Dutch Shell PLC. Sean works with the business to provide financial advice and commercial support for new projects and transactions, evaluating and contributing to the structuring of major deals, policies and organizational controls. During his time at Shell, he has contributed to multiple areas of the business in a finance capacity, including Aviation and Real Estate, Information Technology, and Downstream. 

Sean graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from the Paul J. Hill School of Business at the University of Regina. In addition to his academic pursuits, he served on a multitude of student government committees, and fundraising initiatives. In addition to his responsibilities at Shell, Sean is actively involved with many organizations within the Calgary community, including the Calgary Stampede, Calgary Chamber of Commerce, and Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation, to name a few. 

 

 

Mike Gilchrist, Board Member

 Mike is a lawyer in the Energy Group at Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP and his practice consists primarily of work related to asset and share acquisitions and divestitures in the oil and gas industry. He obtained his Bachelor of Commerce (2005) and Bachelor of Laws (2009) from the University of Calgary. While in school, he spent his summers with several oil and gas companies here in Calgary, which laid the foundation for his interest in the industry. 

Outside of the office Mike is a keen skier and golfer, having ski raced and worked at a Calgary golf course while growing up. 

 

 

Jeremy C. Bruns, Board Member

 Jeremy Bruns is a Professional Engineer practicing in Calgary, Canada. A Reservoir Engineer at Encana Corporation, he is responsible for technical advise to several high quality unconventional natural gas properties, having worked in shallow gas, the Canadian Deep Basin and International New Ventures / Exploration over the last five years. Jeremy has a B.Eng.(H) from McGill University and is multilingual, speaking both of Canada's official languages as well as some Hungarian. 

As President of the Alberta Speleological Society, he is an avid cave explorer, spending the better part of his free time in the summer underground with some of the most accomplished cavers in North America. This in part feeds a passion for exploration and travel which has taken him all over the world. He also climbs, plays hockey, skis and snowboards, and has taken part in competitive fencing. More than anything else though, he enjoys time with family and friends. 

Jeremy has been a board member of YPE Calgary since 2008 and is also a member of Engineers Without Borders, APEGGA, the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec, the Society of Petroleum Engineers and volunteers with the Royal Canadian Air Cadets as a pilot. From 2009 until 2011, he was proud to contribute to ongoing evolution in the energy industry through the Innovative Energy and Technology Partnership sponsored by the Alberta Department of Energy. Jeremy is recipient of the Lord Strathcona Medal. 

 

 

Kay She, Board Member

Kay is a Government & Policy Advisor at the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP), which represents over 90 per cent of Canada's oil and gas upstream industry. In her role at CAPP, Kay focuses on the oil sands portfolio, with a particular emphasis on market access of oil sands to the U.S. and other international markets. Kay is bilingual in English and Cantonese.

Kay is a graduate of the University of Calgary, with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. During her university career, Kay was elected VP External of the Students' Union and represented over 24,000 undergraduates to the municipal, provincial and federal government. She also sat on the Board of Governors, the highest governing body of the University of Calgary. In the summer of 2010, Kay interned at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, D.C. Some of her other university extracurricular activities included writing for the campus undergraduate newspaper, serving as an executive in her sorority, creating a city-wide media literacy program for elementary students, and volunteering on political campaigns.
 
Outside of work and academia, Kay enjoys spending time with family and friends, hot yoga, and long walks on the beach. Honestly.
 

 

Sebastian Madrid, Board Member

Sebastian is a member of the Project Management Office for the

Transmission and Distribution Division of SNC-Lavalin, one of the

largest engineering firms in Canada. Within his position, Sebastian facilitates

the implementation and optimization of business processes by designing

customized systems solutions for internal business units. This position

has enabled him to have direct contact with key players in

the construction and expansion of electrical grids for Alberta,

British Columbia and Ontario.

 

Sebastian holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the

National University of Colombia as well as a Masters in Business

Administration from HEC Montreal. Majoring in Management of Energy

Business sparked his interest in the energy industry, which led him to

Calgary in 2009. Currently, he is pursuing his Professional Engineering

designation with APEGA.

 

Like many Colombians, Sebastian is passionate about coffee. He is a

Certified Barista and participates with his family in the

development and promotion of fair-trade specialty coffees harvested by

Colombian farmers.
