My firm recently hosted a YPE event in Washington DC and I am looking to become involved as well now, except here on the West Coast. I am based out of Orange County and am hoping to make it to the January event in LA.

I agree with Leah. The Appalachian Basin is good for what it is right now New Exploration. Until it can put up the Seismic numbers and be able to build a pipline system that can support it. Leasing and Royalty prices will not reach the lofty goals previously set by CHK.

The most prolific gas producing basin in the United States is absolutely the Anadarko Basin with estimates around 100 TCF 1-3P, followed by Appalachian Basin with estimated of 60 TCF 1-3P.

Prolific for whom? Although drilling is costly and complex, most in the industry would agree that the most prolific gas basin in the lower 48 right now is the Fort Worth Basin. For example, according to a July 2007 article in the American Oil & Gas Reporter, Chesapeake leased land from DFW for $181 million and a 25% royalty.
