Mary currently serves as the Director of Legislative Affairs and Operations at Tassey & Associates in Washington, DC. Mary’s principal activities include legislative and regulatory advocacy. She also helps manage financial services-related coalitions. Before joining the private sector, Mary served four years at the U.S. Department of the Treasury. Most recently she served as an advisor to the Special Envoy for the U.S.-China Strategic Economic Dialogue (SED). The SED’s purpose is to manage both immediate tensions between the two countries and their expanding relationships over the long term. Her work included an energy and environment portfolio. Prior to the SED, Mary served in the Treasury’s Office of Legislative Affairs on the banking and finance team. Mary has been involved with various political campaigns and elections and has held internships at the White House and on Capitol Hill.

 

Mary earned a BA in Political Science from the University of Missouri-Columbia. During her BA studies, Mary spent over a year working with a Chinese PhD student from Guangzhou as his language partner, helping him with his conversational English. Mary joined the YPE DC branch in 2006 and the China Leadership Team in 2009.
