About Claudine Schneider:

Ms. Schneider served in the U.S.Congress from 1980-1990. She is the author of the first and only revenue neutral Global Warming Prevention Act ('Cash for Clunkers', 'Energy Star'-first appliance efficiency standards, etc.). Upon leaving congress, Ms. Schneider taught Leadership at Harvard and other universities. She co-founded Energia Global, an international energy services & renewable energy company in 1992. She served as an Advisor to the Board of National Grid, a British & U.S. utility. Ms. Schneider organized and was the first President of the Solar Alliance - an association of 30 of the world's largest solar manufacturers. Today she is a consultant on business development, strategic communications, market expansion, climate, sustainability, ethics and governance.

About Bruce L. Payne:

Bruce's responsibilities at Laramie Energy II include supervision of the Company's acquisition and land administration activities, gas marketing, accounting, treasury, insurance, financial, HR, and legal matters. He was a co-founder of Laramie I and served as its Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer.

Bruce had over twenty years of transactional experience financing and advising oil and gas exploration and production companies, both internationally and domestically, before joining the industry. Prior to Laramie I, he was Director of Corporate Development of Forest Oil Corporation in Denver where he managed the Company's corporate acquisition activities. Until mid-2000, Bruce was a Managing Director with the Chase Manhattan Bank in London (predecessor to J.P. Morgan Chase) specializing in international oil and gas project finance.

From 1989 to 1994, Bruce was a Senior Manager with Arthur Andersen's Corporate Finance Advisory group, first in Dallas then followed by multi-year assignments in London and Moscow. Bruce began his career in 1982 as an oil and gas banker in Denver, subsequently becoming a Vice President with First Republic Bank in Dallas (predecessor to Bank of America).

Bruce graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with an M.B.A. in Finance, a B.A. in Geology and a B.B.A. in Petroleum Land Management. He attained his C.P.A. certification in 1989.

Wind-Diesel Hybrid Systems: Stories from Alaska
Steve Drouilhet, President and Founder of Sustainable Automation, Inc.
Steve will share some of his personal experiences deploying wind-diesel hybrid systems in various Alaska native villages. There are hundreds of diesel-powered communities and industrial facilities in the U.S., especially in Alaska, where much of the state is without a central power grid. Steve will highlight some of the technical challenges involved and some of the tools used to achieve stability in these isolated micro-grids.

**Because a last minute conflict prevented Steve Drouilhet from giving this presentation at the November AESP Energy Hour, it has been rescheduled for this month’s event.**

Young Professionals in Energy (YPE) is coming to Toronto and will hold a mixer to launch the new chapter Thursday, Jan. 28 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at The Corner Place (100 Front Street East). With more than 20 chapters worldwide, it will be the second in Canada, and first energy networking organization dedicated to the “young professional” demographic to serve the Greater Toronto Area.

Founded in 2005, YPE is the first and only interdisciplinary, global, not-for-profit networking and volunteer organization for young professionals in the energy sector. With more than 10,000 members, its mission is to provide a forum for knowledge sharing and social and professional networking among energy’s future leaders.

About Thomas A. Petrie:

Thomas A. Petrie was a co-founder of Petrie Parkman & Co., a Denver and Houston based energy investment banking firm that merged with Merrill Lynch in December 2006. With this transaction, he became a Vice Chairman of Merrill Lynch and a member of its Executive Client Coverage Group. He was a former Managing Director and Senior Oil Analyst of The First Boston Corporation. During his career, Mr. Petrie has been an active advisor on more than $140 billion of energy related mergers and acquisitions, including many of the largest. Among its other assignments, Petrie Parkman has advised the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on its natural gas initiative, the State of Alaska on gas pipeline options, and the U.S. Department of Energy on the sale of the Elk Hills oilfield.

Mr. Petrie has a Bachelor of Science degree from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and received his Master of Science in Business Administration from Boston University. In December 2005, Mr. Petrie received an Honorary Doctorate of Engineering degree from the Colorado School of Mines. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst.

An active member of several industry associations, Mr. Petrie is a past President and member of the Board of Directors of the National Association of Petroleum Investment Analysts. He has also served on the Securities and Exchange Commission Advisory Board on Oil and Gas Accounting and has delivered a number of technical papers to the Society of Petroleum Engineers on the subjects of petroleum valuation, merger and acquisition trends, and energy policy. He has been interviewed on numerous occasions by Barron’s and has also appeared on “Wall Street Week with Louis Rukeyser,” “The News Hour with Jim Lehrer,” CNBC and Fox News. He is also a past Chairman and Director of the District No. 3 Business Conduct Committee of the National Association of Securities Dealers.

Mr. Petrie served for six years as a Trustee of the Association of Graduates of the United States Military Academy at West Point. Currently, he is a Trustee of the Denver Art Museum, The Colorado Conservation Trust, and serves on the National Advisory Board of the C.M. Russell Museum as well as the Board of Directors of The Gettysburg Foundation.

Nkechi Ogbue is a communications advisor at Ontario’s Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) and has worked in public relations and communications roles of increasing responsibility since 2005. Prior to joining the IESO, she worked at United Technologies Corp. in Hartford, Conn., where she executed communications campaigns and programs at the corporate and business unit headquarter-level as well as within its Pratt & Whitney Power Systems business.

Nkechi holds a Master of Science in Public Relations from Syracuse University. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications and Minor in Business from Carleton University in Ottawa, Ont. Nkechi joined YPE as a member of its Boston chapter in 2008.

Director - TorontoDan is a Senior Consultant at Navigant Consulting Inc., a leading strategic advisory firm for the energy industry. His work focuses on strategic planning, clean energy technologies, and market entry and growth strategies for a variety of private and public sector clients. Examples of clients include the U.S. Department of Energy, the US Navy, Natural Resources Canada and Hydro One. Prior to joining Navigant Consulting, Dan worked at Enwave Energy Corporation, a progressive district energy company in Toronto. Ravi Ramdas

Director - Oklahoma City Ravi Ramdas started his career in Singapore, his home town, with Shell in 1993. Ramdas had several roles in the Finance and Trading departments with is last role managing a scheduling group and liaising with his counterpart in London. Following his stint at Shell, Ramdas worked as a trading analyst at the Singapore office of Koch, devising trading strategies in the Asian petrochemical markets in conjunction with his London counterpart. In 1999 Ramdas moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he started the oil trading desk of NRG Energy. After 13 months he was promoted to head all fuels trading (natural gas, coal, emissions credits and oil) at the company. Following his tenure at NRG and after a brief stint in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Ramdas assumed the East Coast gasoline and diesel trading manager position with Premcor Refining in Old Greenwich, Connecticut in 2004. Castlen Kennedy is a manager for governmental affairs with Apache Corporation in Houston. In her role at Apache, Castlen works on federal and state legislative affairs. Prior to joining Apache, she served in the Bush administration as a senior policy advisor at the Department of Energy in Washington, DC, where she focused on oil and gas policy. Castlen has also held positions at S&B Infrastructure, RWE Trading Americas and Enron Corporation.

She holds a BBA degree in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin and is currently pursuing a Dual Masters in Public Affairs and Energy & Earth Resources at the University of Texas at Austin. Castlen is a native of Houston, TX. She joined the YPE Leadership Team in 2006.

Sarah Phillips, Director 2007-2009 Sarah is a Landman at EnCana Corporation, a North American leader in natural gas production and in-situ oilsands development. Her responsibilities include asset management and the negotiation of land agreements in central Alberta. Prior to joining EnCana, Sarah completed her Bachelor of Commerce Degree, majoring in Petroleum Land Management at the University of Calgary, where she had an active role with the Petroleum Landman Undergraduate Society. Sarah’s professional memberships include the Canadian Association of Petroleum Landmen and the American Association of Professional Landmen.
