YPE Launches Chicago Chapter |

YPE is pleased to announce the launch of the Chicago chapter. Please feel free to pass this note along to your colleagues in the Chicago area and encourage them to 1) sign-up for YPE membership, and 2) RSVP for the kick-off reception. Also, feel free to reach-out to the Chicago area YPE Directors with any questions you might have. Chicago has a diverse history of involvement in the global energy industry. The Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) was founded in 1889 and has evolved to become the world's largest and most diverse financial exchange. Chicago is also the host to the Citadel Investment Group, the global asset manager with a major focus on commodities, as well as Invenergy, the leading clean energy company focused on wind power. Chicago has also been home to major Amoco operations which are now operated by BP plc. The Midwest United States is a major North American refinery hub. Local universities such as The University of Chicago and Northwestern University have become global centers of innovation and talent development. The Kellogg School of Management and the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business have been top breeding grounds for global energy industry leaders. The YPE - Chicago chapter launch follows a string of allocates for YPE including the hosting of energy industry talks including the August YPE - New York climate change lecture by Theodore Roosevelt IV (Lehman Brothers) and the September YPE - Houston peak oil lecture by Matthew Simmons (Simmons & Co.). YPE - Houston will also be hosting a networking reception in conjunction with the Oil and Gas Financial Journal on November 19th as well as the second annual YPE - Wells Fargo Golf Tournament on November 22nd (to benefit Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Greater Houston).
